The installation Mass of Bishop Michael Fisher, "Bishop Mike," was a beautiful event! It is great to have such a terrific addition to our diocese. With all of the difficulties we have recently faced in our diocese and throughout our nation, it is refreshing to hear Bishop Mike remind us that,
"It is Jesus Christ who never disappoints, though we confront deep disappointment; It is Jesus Christ whose promises are true and abiding, even when we have been disillusioned and left to wonder how it is we might recapture the zeal and joy that led us to become followers in the first place." - from Bishop Mike's homily at the Installation Mass
He is right - even with difficulties and disappointments around us, Jesus Christ never disappoints. All will be well. I don't know about you, but I really needed to be reminded of that. At our time of disappointments of having to struggle to get on the schedule to receive a Covid-19 vaccine; the need for healing of victims of abuse; the frustration of needless delays in bringing an end to racial injustice in our nation; not being able to gather together with our families because of this pandemic; Jesus Christ will not disappoint! He will continue watching over us and see us through all our disappointments and troubles.
There are even more words of encouragement in the remainder of Bishop Mike's homily, you can click here to view it.
Please continue to pray for all of the disappointments of our diocese and nation. Pray also that we be confident that these will pass since it is to Jesus Christ that we pray, and Jesus never disappoints!!!
