Since Easter Sunday we have been celebrating the fact that Jesus rose from the dead and conquered death for all of us. Since that time, for forty days, the disciples were able to see him and talk with him. Today we are celebrating Jesus' ascension to heaven. He would no longer be physically present with the disciples. They must have felt like we do from time to time, that they were all alone and everything depended on them. But we hear in our Gospel Acclimation today, "I am with you always, until the end of the world."
That was a vital message to the disciples, and it is just as vital to us. Even though Jesus is not physically present at our side to guide us, he is, as he promised, with us always. We are never alone. We are not alone as we set out to live our lives successfully. We are not alone searching to find joy. We are not alone in letting others know how Jesus taught us to live. Jesus is with YOU! - "I am with you always, until the end of the world." - Jesus
Amen!
